A standoff sign is a rigid sign — typically acrylic or metal — mounted slightly away from the wall using cylindrical hardware called standoffs, creating a clean, modern, dimensional look rather than sitting flush against the wall.

A standard standoff mount is visible on the front of the sign, with the hardware screwed through and showing as part of the design. A hidden standoff (sometimes called a "snap standoff") uses cups mounted to the back of the sign that snap together, so no hardware is visible from the front — giving the sign a floating appearance.

Hidden standoff signs are commonly made from MaxMetal®, a durable rigid substrate that holds up well for long-term interior display while keeping the sign lightweight.
